Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the area, generating powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received 598 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
