The artist has donated the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which works to save the United Kingdom's small live music spots.

Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his latest record People Watching was declared the best record of the previous year.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots had in his beginning days.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," said Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16% of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also joined in, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to help numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped venues that were confronting possible closure due to issues stemming from water damage, fires and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and neighbor objections.

Other venues received financial assistance in improving facilities and technical equipment that helped performers and fans.

"The concept that funds from concerts in big venues helps the smaller venues, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has said.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his award winnings to charitable organizations.

In Pulp received the trophy in the year 1996 for their record their work, lead singer the singer declared that the group would donate their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, artist she divided her prize among multiple charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite told a publication.

Two years ago, the band donated their funds to the local youth club that nurtured their group, alongside other local music groups.

Additionally the 1994 recipients M People contributed their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"Winning was ample," stated singer Small. "The prize was the bonus but we could do without the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had saved several local spots in the South East, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the public acquisition program, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
